Challenges
Performance and Stability issues due to old Sun Hardware (E25K). Needed to migrate their large EBS Database to Linux with Minimum downtime. Traditional migration methods would require significant amount of downtime. Along with Migration Client needed to Upgrade Database and Application to latest certified version.
Our Solution
Buxton developed a custom solution that used transportable tablespace along with RMAN tools to migrate the Database and Application from Solaris platform to Linux. Buxton was the first company to implement this solution to migrate a very large EBS Database. Oracle now uses this process as a standard process for Platform Migration.
Business Impact
Traditional method of platform migration would have taken 5 to 7 days. With Buxton’s “Innovative custom solution”, Client’s Database and Application was migrated to Linux server in less than 8 hours. Buxton completed the DB and Application upgrade along with platform migration in single smaller downtime window with no defects. This project has won Oracle’s Excellence Award.
