Client wanted to move its e-mail hosting infrastructure to a public cloud from their private data centers to improve operational efficiencies and reduce costs. This project included migration of 250+ billion small files, multiple very large MS SQL Databases (100+ TB) and 1000s of servers. There were no tools available in the industry which could migrate large MS SQL databases and 100s of billion small files with minimal disruption to the customers without any data loss.
Our Solution
Buxton’s team closely worked with the client and with the cloud provider, developed a custom tool to facilitate the migration with very limited downtime (i.e., 2 hours). Solution also included reconciliation of data.
Business Impact
Buxton team was able to migrate the e-mail hosting application and its corresponding infrastructure with minimal down time. Customer enjoyed no data loss, enhanced security and better system performance. They also are saving over $100M per year in this area
